Žižkov Survival: How to Get By with Very Little
Žižkov is a neighbourhood that is changing fast – new developments are redrawing old maps, but underneath it all, there is still a raw mix of pubs, parks, squats, freedom and the ability to make do in your own way. From Olšanka and Parukářka to the Žižkov Freight Station, Jiří will show you Žižkov as a place where old Prague, punk energy and everyday survival strategies come together. He will share practical tips for living with very little, the basics of prepping, and his own ways of getting by in the city.
In the second part of the tour, he will invite you into his home. You might think that stepping inside a squat is not exactly an everyday experience, but you can leave your worries at the door – Jiří knows his neighbours well, and there is no danger to you. Quite the opposite: you will get to see a place unlike anything you are likely to find elsewhere.
Jiří built his home entirely by himself. How much did it cost? Literally “zero crowns – made from what Prague provided.” Every piece of furniture and equipment has its own story, and Jiří will enthusiastically show you where he found each item and how he gave it a new life. It is proof that even with minimal resources, it is possible to create a functional and surprisingly cosy home.

All you need to know
As all our tour guides speak Czech, this specific tour is in Czech. For foreigners we have two options, a "Tour with an English interpreter" which takes place on Friday and Saturday with random tour guide, or a private tour with a translator that you can book if you email to us.
Your guide is a person experiencing homelessness. This means that they are currently sleeping rough, using shelters, or staying in various forms of unstable accommodation. Each guide is at a different stage and we do everything we can in order to improve their conditions.
We operate in all weather conditions! Whether it rains, freezes or melts, our tour is always active so you can experience the true reality of those who cannot leave the road and return home in bad weather. Wear comfortable shoes and dress according to the season.
Our guides only speak Czech. You can choose the Tour with an English interpreter or you can order a private tour with an interpreter just for you (in that case we might be able to provide also other languages then only English).
Taking a Pragulic tour is just as dangerous as crossing the street. With 12 years of experience, we mitigate every risk. We will not take you to any dangerous places.
Standardní vstupenka na prohlídku stojí 450 Kč a její nákup a potvrzení od nás jsou podmínkou účasti. Při nákupu 5 a více vstupenek získáváte navíc slevu 11 % (tj. výsledná cena za vstupenku je 400 Kč). Platba se provádí vždy předem přes náš rezervační systém kartou nebo převodem. Platit na místě průvodci není možné.
Pokud se vám prohlídka líbila, můžete svého průvodce odměnit dýškem. Není to pro ně jen ohodnocení jejich práce, ale také peníze navíc, které se velmi hodí. Jedná se však o dobrovolný akt a je zcela na vašem uvážení, kolik průvodci dáte.
The standard ticket price for the tour is CZK 450. Purchasing a ticket and receiving our confirmation are required to participate.
When purchasing 5 or more tickets, you will receive an 11% discount, bringing the final price down to CZK 400 per ticket.
Ticket for tour with an interpreter costs 650 CZK. Booking is only possible online and payment must be made in advance by card.
Payment must always be made in advance through our booking system, either by card or bank transfer. It is not possible to pay the guide on site.
If you enjoyed the tour, you can tip the guide with any amount of money you see fit. It is not just about motivation and reward for their work, but also about extra income for people who need it.
Be respectful. We are not here to expose homeless people but rather facilitate a unique experience. Please ask people before you take any pictures or videos. At the same time, it is very helpful to us, if you share your experience on social media or touristic platforms.
